Coach Emmett 

Coach Emmet  serves as an Assistant Coach on the College of San Mateo coaching staff while also as a Costa Rica National Team Assistant Consultant. He is a respected player-development coach who has trained athletes from the middle school level to college, professional, and international players. Coach Whitfield has coached with Nike EYBL Cal Stars, BullDawgs Basketball, SAWUSA, and Jefferson High School, where he helped lead the Grizzlies to the best playoff performance in program history. His coaching philosophy centers around FOCUS: Faith • Ownership & Accountability • Composure • Unity • Strength Throughout Sportsmanship. FOCUS represents the culture Coach Whitfield strives to build—developing skilled athletes, strong teammates, confident leaders, and people of character.

Basketball runs deep in the Whitfield family, with multiple female cousins competing at the NCAA level, continuing a family tradition of excellence in the game.

Kareem Summerville

Kareem Summerville is a dedicated and accomplished high school coach with extensive experience leading successful girls’ basketball programs. He has previously held varsity head coaching positions at Alameda High School, San Mateo High School, Dublin High School and Terra Nova High School. In his first season at Dublin, he led the team to both the NCS Playoffs and the CIF State Turnament.

Summerville spent nine years as Head Coach at Terra Nova High School, where he built a consistently competitive program, winning four PAL North League Championships and four consecutive PAL Tournament titles. His teams reached the CCS playoffs every year, including a runner-up finish and CIF State Tournament appearance in 2012. He was named PAL Coach of the Year in 2008. Coach Summerville brings passion, experience, and a strong commitment to student-athlete development.

Coach Henri

Coach Henri serves as an Assistant Coach at the College of San Mateo, where he plays an important role in player development and team preparation. Coach Henri earns players trust and respect while helping them develop the mental approach needed to compete at a high level. He leads skill-development drills, works closely with athletes to improve their fundamentals, and brings energy and purpose to every practice. His ability to connect with players while demanding focus and accountability makes him a valuable part of the coaching staff. Coach Henri is committed to helping athletes develop their skills, strengthen their confidence, and prepare mentally and physically to compete.
